I applied myself to learning the Alexander Technique on my own, starting about October 2006, and then had a few lessons in December 2007.

I started this as a personal journal to get a sense of perspective and try to pick out the most important things I’ve learned and avoid going round in circles. As I was typing it anyway, I thought I’d publish it- my experiences might help others, and other people might (and already have) suggest solutions to my problems.

If anyone is wondering what the Alexander Technique is, other people have already collected a lot of information together. The site I’ve used most over the years is http://alexandertechnique.com/ which has a great collection of resources and links, so I’d have no hesitation in recommending this as a great starting point! Enjoy :)

And a note to anyone beginning – you’ll save yourself loads of time by having a few lessons over trying to learn on your own – but I think you can do it with enough patience. Remember, though, it took Alexander 9 years to learn!
